| The San Miguel Community This small community is located in the northern part of the Department of La Paz, Bolivia, at 200 m of altitude, and at only 45 minutes by boat from Rurrenabaque, the gateway for Madidi National Park. This part of Bolivia has a extraordinary biological richness and the Beni River is one of the three largest drainages in Bolivia. The community has 44 families indigenous Tacana dedicated to subsistence agriculture and fishing. The community has a primary school and a small medical post, several fishermen have boats that travel to Rurrenabaque to sell agricultural products and fish, especially every Sunday. People
from the community are very enthusiastic about tourism development
and will be pleased to host you. Learn about their hospitality and
friendship and support their economies by becoming a rainforest visitor.
